The 17th World Congress of the Human Proteome Organization (HUPO) identified 30 different sessions of the most exciting topics where proteomics is advancing its understanding. The sessions covered a wide range of topics, including various diseases, technology advances, and novel scientific and analytical approaches. IEEE MLSP 2018

The MLSP workshop presented the most recent and exciting advances in machine learning for signal processing through keynote talks, tutorials and regular single-track sessions as well as matchmaking events. TUDA presented its paper “Network reconstruction from time-course perturbation data using multivariate Gaussian processes”.
ECCB 2018

The Hellenic Society for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics organised the seventeenth edition of the European Conference on Computational Biology in association with the ELIXIR. It is the main computational event in Europe and welcomed scientists working in a variety of disciplines, including bioinformatics, computational biology, biology, medicine, and systems biology. IBM participated in this conference, as well as CI, who presented 2 posters: Patient-specific prostate logical models allow clinical stratification of patients and personalized drug treatment and Instantiation of Patient-Specific Logical Models with multi-omics data allows clinical stratification of patients.

7th Workshop on Logic and Systems Biology

As models of biological systems grow in complexity, researchers are experiencing some of the same problems that beset software designers and computer engineers. The topics of this workshop reflect the interdisciplinary approach needed to solve these problems. Some of the lecturers are biologists who use computer models to develop and test their hypotheses, and others are computer scientists who are applying formal methods to build and analyze models of biological systems: partner UKAACHEN participated in this workshop.

The annual conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology is the world’s largest bioinformatics/computational biology conference: it brings together scientists from computer science, molecular biology, mathematics, statistics and related fields. ECBT 2018

ECBT 2018 highlighted recent advances in the tools and techniques that are facilitating translational research and precision medicine: the discussions focussed on how informatics can be used to improve drug discovery and development and to treat disease, and how it is helping to centralise and organise medical knowledge. PrECISE partner CI presented its work on instantiation of patient – specific prostate models.

The program chairs were Sheila McIlraith, University of Toronto, Canada and Kilian Weinberger, Cornell University, USA. The purpose of the AAAI conference is to promote research in artificial intelligence (AI) and scientific exchange among AI researchers, practitioners, scientists, and engineers in affiliated disciplines. Sikun Yang and Heinz Koeppl from TU Darmstadt presented their work on a Poisson Gamma Probabilistic Model there.

15th Conference on Computational Methods in Systems Biology (CMSB 2017)

CMSB 2017 was held in Darmstadt, Germany. It was hosted by the Technische Universität Darmstadt, member of the PrECISE consortium. The 15th CMSB conference once again brought together computer scientists, biologists, mathematicians, engineers and physicists interested in a system-level understanding of biological processes, their study and modelling.
Frontiers in Metabolism - From system physiology to precision medicine (Life Sciences Symposium 2017)

The symposium enables speakers and participants to discuss novel findings that link basic concepts emerging from the fields of cell biology, signaling, metabolomics, physiology, genetics/genomics, and aging with the pathogenesis and management of the metabolic syndrome a major medical challenge. The objective is to create an interdisciplinary environment that brings together basic scientists and clinicians with an interest in metabolomic diseases, to foster innovative ideas in this area. Partner ETH presented their work on the selection of stable biomarker signature for prediction of metabolic phenotypes.
17th Workshop on Network Tools and Applications for Biology (NETTAB 2017)

The Workshop Methods, tools and platforms for Personalized Medicine in the Big Data Era will be the 17th edition of the NETTAB Workshops series. It will be hosted by the Istituto di Calcolo e Reti ad Alte Prestazioni (ICAR-CNR) of the Italian National Research Council. Partner UKAACHEN presented their work on integrating multiple layers of information extracted from cell lines and drugs in one of the poster sessions.
25th Conference for Molecular Biology and the 16th European Conference on Computational Biology (ISMB/ECCB 2017)

ISMB/ECCB 2017 provided an intense multidisciplinary forum for disseminating the latest developments in bioinformatics/computational biology, fostering fresh dialogues and perspectives to learn about and shape the future of the field. One day before the conference, the PrECISE consortium met in Prague to discuss project internal, ongoing topics. Partners TUDA and UKAACHEN presented posters during SysMod COSI.

The DGP 2017 took place in June 2017 in the Heinrich-Lades-Halle in Erlangen and ran under the slogan "Pathology: Innovation and Cooperation". The chairman of the congress is Prof. Dr. med. Arndt Hartmann. The congress language is German, selected sessions will be held in English.

ROCKY 2016: 14th Annual Rocky Mountain Bioinformatics Conference

The fourteenth annual Rocky Mountain Bioinformatics Conference, a meeting of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB), took place in December 2016 in Aspen, Colorado. The Rocky series began fourteen years ago as a regional conference, and has grown into an international program with a spotlight on regional development in the computational biosciences. The presenters of the Rocky conference are scientists representing a broad spectrum of universities, industrial enterprises, government laboratories, and medical libraries from around the world. Roland Mathis of IBM, a partner of the PrECISE consortium (IBM) gave a talk there (Stratification of prostate cancer patients based on molecular interaction profiles).

International Conference on Systems Biology (ICSB)

The Curie Institute Paris and the University Hospital Aachen are participating in this year's ICSB Conference in Barcelona. Pauline Traynard will give a hands-on tutorial during a satellite workshop covering a computer tool for modeling and simulation of genetic regulatory networks. Moreover, there will a tutorial about the tool CellNOpt developed by the Saez-Rodriguez research group. CellNOpt is intensively used by the PrECISE consortium. The European Conference on Mathematical and Theoretical Biology (ECMTB 2016) is the joint meeting of the European Society for Mathematical and Theoretical Biology and the Society for Mathematical Biology. The conference brought together researchers from around the world to present and learn about cutting-edge research at the interface between mathematics and the life sciences. Pauline Traynard from Institute Curie presented model-checking methods to analyse logical models, with a case study on a model of the cell cycle that is part of the generic map that is currently built in Deliverable D5.1. CI presented the PrECISE project as a part of a broader talk at ECTMB conference in Nottingham/UK
